C8 Corvette Flips Into Building During Police Pursuit in Northwest Houston
An Arctic White Chevrolet Corvette C8 convertible overturned and crashed into a building early Thursday after the driver attempted to evade Houston police in northwest Houston. The wreck occurred around 2 a.m. outside the Garden Oaks Lodge #1306 Masonic Lodge on West Little York Road. The Corvette came to rest on its roof with significant front-end damage.
According to the Houston Police Department, officers first observed the Corvette speeding on West Montgomery Road and running multiple red lights. Police said when officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the driver refused to pull over and accelerated, leading officers on a pursuit that lasted approximately five minutes. Authorities reported the chase ended after the Corvette apparently suffered a tire failure, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle overturned and slammed into the lodge building before coming to a stop.
Rescue crews responded to the scene and were seen cutting off the passenger-side door to access the occupants. The driver and passenger, both believed to be in their early 30s, were transported to a hospital. Police said both individuals were listed in stable condition. The Corvette was not reported stolen, but authorities confirmed the driver had an outstanding felony warrant for aggregate felony theft and engaging in organized crime.
The crash caused visible damage to both the vehicle and the building. Video from the scene showed the Corvette’s front end torn apart and separated from the vehicle as it was loaded onto a flatbed tow truck. The brick exterior of the lodge sustained damage, and at least one window was dislodged, exposing part of the interior wall.
Police said the case remains under investigation. Once completed, the Harris County District Attorney’s Office will determine what additional charges, if any, will be filed.
