France welcomes record 102 million international tourists in 2025
France received a record number of international visitors in 2025, holding on to its status as the world’s most visited holiday destination, the Economy Ministry said on Thursday.
The number of international holidaymakers who travelled to France rose to 102 million in 2025 from 100 million the previous year, the ministry said in a statement.
International tourists generated record revenue of €77.5 billion ($91 billion), up 9% compared to 2024 and 37% compared to 2019.
Three-quarters of the foreign tourists in France came from Europe, and the number of overnight stays in hotels and other accommodation increased by 7.5% compared to the previous year.
The number of domestic tourists in France also continued to rise.
Despite leading in visitor numbers, France trails neighbour Spain in tourism revenue, with Spain generating €105 billion in 2025.
The French ministry noted, however, that the tourism revenue gap between France and Spain is narrowing.
