Harry Styles and Co. Took Their Levi’s to the Disco Floor
I saw Harry Styles’ dancers wearing Levi’s 501s and Jimmy Fairly sunglasses at the BRIT Awards this weekend, so now I’m wearing Levi’s 501s and Jimmy Fairly sunglasses. Not in an ill-fated attempt to garner his attention (who can be bothered to walk around Hampstead Heath all day anyway), but because his dancers’ outfits are diabolically attainable—and I want in.
By now, I don’t know anyone immune to a simple pair of blue 501s. Long-established as not only an icon on Levi’s own shelves but in the world of denim itself, the 501 has a rich and storied history all its own (the design was patented in 1873, FYI). And not least because Harry himself wore them on the cover of the upcoming album Kiss All The Time, Disco Occasionally.
Jimmy Fairly might feel a little upmarket if you’ve yet to swear off your Ray-Bans, but the French optician’s $148 shades are worth the investment—as long as you don’t lose them on a Corfu beach this summer. As it happens, this particular bug-like silhouette has been cropping up all over the place as an easy cheat code for stylish warm-weather ensembles.
In essence, that’s the vibe behind these entire outfits. More often than not, your average residency at the O2 Arena involves as much designer gear for the back-up dancers as the headliner. But this? Wonderfully pedestrian. It’s precisely what Harry Styles wants you to wear to his gigs; simple, comfortable, and stylish—all the better to occasionally disco in when you hit Wembley Stadium in June.
