Heavy US-Israeli strikes were reported in Tehran and nearby Karaj overnight where residents said they were left in darkness as the war with Iran entered an eleventh day.

Israel issued evacuation orders for people in parts of Lebanon as it continues to target sites associated with Hezbollah, while retaliatory strikes by Iran have been intercepted by Israel and a number of Gulf states.

The US-based Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) says 1,245 civilians have been killed, including at least 194 children, since 28 February. Seven US service personnel have been killed since the start of the conflict, according to the Department of Defense.

The first US-Israeli strikes on Iran began on 28 February with Israel’s military saying it targeted Iran’s leadership and its military infrastructure. The former Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed in Tehran during the initial strikes.

BBC Verify has so far confirmed visual evidence of more than 119 attacks across Iran, including at least 56 strikes in Tehran.

Satellite imagery reviewed by BBC Verify since the conflict began on 28 February has shown damage to a nuclear facility at Natanz and and three Iranian missile sites.

Elsewhere, damaged aircraft was seen at Mehrabad airport in Tehran. BBC Verify found at least 11 Iranian naval vessels were left damaged or destroyed by strikes at the Konarak and Bandar Abbas naval bases, while the US said it has sunk more than 30 Iranian ships.

On Sunday evening the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said “approximately 3,400 strikes” had been carried out with more than 150 Iranian defence systems disabled.

BBC Verify has seen footage of smoke and fires at four Iranian oil facilities following Israeli strikes.

In Minab, in the south of Iran, at least 168 people including children were killed at a primary school when it was hit on 28 February, Iranian authorities said. Experts who analysed a video showing a missile moments before it struck the IRGC base next to the school told BBC Verify the munition was a US Tomahawk. Neither Israel nor Iran are known to possess Tomahawks, experts said.

The governments of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain and the UAE all reported what they said were Iranian missile and drone attacks since the weekend, including an apparent drone strike on Dubai International Airport.

The UAE defence ministry announced early on Tuesday that it was continuing to intercept “missile and drone threats” from Iran and has deployed air defence systems and fighter jets.

It said in the past week 238 missiles and 1,422 drones had been detected at the country.

Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Iraq have also come under attack.

Hezbollah, the militant group backed by Iran, launched missiles towards Israel following the killing of Khamenei.

Israel accused Iran of launching cluster bomb missile strikes on the country, which has killed two people since Monday. A missile attack on 1 March in the city of Beit Shemesh killed at least nine people and injured 27 others, according to emergency services.

Israeli forces have carried out continued air strikes in Lebanon targeting Hezbollah sites. On Tuesday the IDF issued two evacuation orders for parts of Lebanon ahead of air strikes.

The Lebanese health ministry said on Monday that 486 people had been killed since Israel began its offensive earlier this month.

Attacks outside the Middle East

The US-Israeli war with Iran has also spread beyond the region. Last week the Pentagon said an Iranian warship was sunk by a US submarine off Sri Lanka, which local authorities said killed more than 80 people on board.

Azerbaijan has accused Iran of launching drones that injured two people in the western territory of Nakhchivan, which Tehran denied. And on 1 March a UK airbase in Cyprus was hit by a drone, which British officials believe was launched by Hezbollah forces from Lebanon.
