Who are the Popular Forces, one of the Gazan militias reportedly cooperating with Israel?
The Popular Forces, a Gazan militia led by Yaser Abu Shabab, has been linked with Israel.
On Saturday, Shabab wrote an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal claiming to have “secured” several kilometers of land in the Gaza Strip. He also claimed that he now governed that space.
The Popular Forces took over land belonging to the Tarabin Bedouin tribe, of which Shabab is a member, he wrote while asserting that the militia’s “primary goal is to separate Palestinians who have nothing to do with Hamas from the fire of war.”
