The Austin-based game developer Wolfeye Studios announced that it’s teaming up with Korean publisher Neowiz to distribute its next title. Described as a “retro sci-fi first-person action RPG” with “a branching narrative in a retrofuturistic setting,” the upcoming game does not have a name yet. It is confirmed to be developed for PC and console.

Wolfeye and Neowiz presented three pieces of concept art for the game to give fans an idea of what might await them on this adventure, though. One image shows a shabby village in an arid landscape, which almost looks like it sprung out of Wolfeye’s debut title, Weird West, were it not for the power cables and other technological devices visible among the wooden huts.

Completely different vibes come from the second image, which shows a comfy, luxurious room outfitted with cushy furniture, plants, and artworks. A woman wearing elegant clothes sits on one of the sofas, while the same arid landscape the other concept art was set in is visible outside of the windows.

The third shared piece of art shows a sky carriage, which looks like someone took an oversized imperial probe droid from Star Wars and made it carry a ferris wheel gondola.

Wolfeye is helmed by immersive sim pioneers Julien Roby and Raf Colantonio, who made their names with titles such as Dishonored and Prey while they were Arkane Austin.

“We have a burning passion for making a very specific type of game that blends RPG, action and simulation,” creative director Colantonio commented. “These games can only be successful when the publisher shares that same passion.”

“With Neowiz, we found a partner that truly understands our vision and is as committed as we are to delivering a unique, creative and memorable game experience that will appeal both to our long-term fans and new players alike,” added Roby, who serves as the studio’s CEO and executive producer.

“Partnering with a studio brimming with incredible talent at Wolfeye is a timely and strategic fit for us,” explained Neowiz co-CEO Seungchul Kim. “This collaboration reaffirms our commitment to delivering remarkable story-driven games that resonate with gamers worldwide on PC and console platforms.”
