Rebecca Hall on ‘The Beauty,’ Entering Her Villain Era, and Obsessing Over Bette Davis

For someone who’s done as many horror movies as she has, Rebecca Hall admits she’s a bit squeamish as a viewer. That, however, didn’t stop her from taking on a role in The Beauty, a new body horror series from Ryan Murphy and Matthew Hodgson, set to premiere on FX on January 21.

Hall first learned about the series over breakfast at Buvette with Murphy, who enticed her with three things: a fun premise (an STD that makes you so hot, you explode), great clothes (who could say no to The Row?), plus a list of fabulous filming locations, including Paris and Venice.

In fact, the experience was so positive, Hall tells Vogue’s Hannah Jackson and Marley Marius on this Thursday’s episode of The Run-Through, that she signed up to work with Murphy again almost immediately after. Later this year, she’ll appear in the next installment of the Monster anthology series, focused on Lizzie Borden. Playing Lizzie’s stepmother, Abby, while Lizzie herself will be played by Ella Beatty, Hall is officially “entering her villain era,” which was a lot of fun for her.

And when Hall is off the clock? She finds great joy in painting, watching The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, and dressing up in “crazy outfits” to putter about her house in upstate New York.

But before all that, Chioma fills Chloe in on British Vogue’s fabulous new issue, starring Jessie Buckley. They also chat about what they’re most looking forward to this awards season and bid a fond farewell to Will Welch, who announced this week that he will be departing GQ in February.
