Suspect arrested at airport ahead of departure after allegedly raping teen on Jewish Agency trip
The police launched an investigation after a 19-year-old tourist arrived at a hospital in Jerusalem and reported to police she had been sexually assaulted.
The Israel Police arrested a foreign tourist at Ben-Gurion Airport on Sunday night suspicion of rape and indecent acts, shortly before he was set to flee the country, the police stated.

Both suspect and victim were on Jewish Agency program
According to the report, both the suspect and the victim are part of a Jewish Agency program trip to Israel. The incident allegedly took place in a public bomb shelter in the Kiryat Moriah neighborhood of Jerusalem.

Detectives from the Oz Station in the Jerusalem District quickly identified the suspect, a man in his 20s. Investigators discovered he was already traveling to the airport to leave Israel. In a coordinated effort with Ben-Gurion Airport police, the suspect was detained and taken back to the Oz Station for questioning.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court today, where police will request an extension of his remand.
