Taylor Swift Wore a Classic Cartier for Her Album Reveal
On Monday, Taylor Swift announced her new album on the podcast New Heights, hosted by three-time Super Bowl champion/GQ cover star Travis Kelce (her boyfriend) and one-time Super Bowl champion Jason Kelce (her boyfriend’s brother). If you’re finding this out for the first time because of a blog dedicated to a watch, I think that’s really cool. Swift album rollouts are massive events, often involving days or weeks of the musician dropping easter eggs for her legions of diehard fans. While few concrete details were divulged, Swift did announce the name of her new album, er, era: The Life of a Showgirl. A special occasion calls for a special watch, and Swift celebrated this one with a reliable favorite of hers.
Swift took the mic of New Heights wearing her gorgeous Cartier Panthère in diamond-studded yellow gold. It’s a watch we’ve seen her celebrate many a special occasion in—most notably Kelce’s third straight Super Bowl trip earlier this year—and one very in line with Swift’s sensibilities. The Panthère is an undeniable classic of Cartier’s, usually coming in tiny cases and thin bracelets.

Over the years, it’s been the unofficial watch of women who aren’t just celebrities but rather global icons–think Princess Di, Jane Fonda, and Madonna. Swift has long been fascinated with that old-money era of celebrity, documenting the history of her storied 20th-century Rhode Island beach home in the song “The Last Great American Dynasty” on folklore. She even spent a summer honest-to-god trying to become a Kennedy. It’s the perfect watch for those looking to channel that era of Americana, or to establish themselves firmly as part of that lore.
Very little is known about The Life of a Showgirl but on the title alone seems like it’ll explore life on the road (you have perhaps heard about her Eras Tour over the last couple of years) and the pomp and circumstance of a life in showbiz. A gold watch studded in sparkling diamonds? Give ‘em the ol’ razzle dazzle, Taylor.
