Taylor Swift’s ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ Isn’t Out for Months, But the Memes Are Already Delivering

I’ll say this for Taylor Swift: She sure knows how to whip the entire Internet into a frenzy. The pop star proved as much this week when she announced her twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, on her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s podcast, New Heights. (We love a cross-branding synergy-slash-romance moment, don’t we, folks?)

The Life of a Showgirl—which I sleepily referred to as But I’m a Showgirl pre-coffee this morning, apparently conflating the 2000 Jamie Babbit film But I’m a Cheerleader and Swift’s 2024 song “But Daddy I Love Him”—isn’t out until Friday, October 3, but the tracklist has been revealed, and I’m already curious as to what the song “CANCELLED!” is about. (God, all the eldest daughters are going to be sooo annoying about the song titled “Eldest Daughter,” aren’t they?) Plus, Sabrina Carpenter cameo!!!

“And, baby, that’s show business for you,” Swift captioned her Instagram post announcing the new album—and obviously, another part of show business is being given the full meme treatment before your project has even dropped. Below, find the very best extremely online responses to The Life of a Showgirl so far.
