But the best dressed stars also incorporated an edgier sensibility into their looks, balancing them out with tough leather accents or embellished coats that gave their outfits some grit.

Take Selena Gomez, who was spotted out in New York City wearing a black leather A.W.A.K.E. Mode coat covered in silver studs. It gave her more classic pieces—like a structured vest top and mini skirt—a punkier feel. Ditto for Julianne Moore and her black Prada gown, worn to the premiere of Echo Valley in L.A.: The star’s asymmetric sleeve and beaded floral appliqués made her dress feel less Old Hollywood, more New Hollywood.

Sydney Sweeney, meanwhile, went the more princess route in her sky-blue Miu Miu chiffon number. Upbeat summery blues certainly shined this week. Laura Harrier chose a blue sequin Priscavera number, while Sofia Richie Grange opted for a deeper blue Schiaparelli halter gown for a wedding in the South of France.
