Timex’s Latest Snoopy Collab Is Ready for the Pickleball Court
While countless Snoopy tickers have been produced over the years, his proper foray into the watch world began in 1968, shortly after the moon landing. Creator Charles Schulz, a longtime supporter of NASA’s space program, allowed for Snoopy to be used as a mascot for the Apollo missions, which led to NASA awarding the ‘Silver Snoopy Award’ (commemorated by way of a silver lapel pin featuring an astronaut Snoopy) to those who they deemed displayed, “professionalism, dedication, and outstanding support that greatly enhanced space flight safety and mission success.” Among the earliest recipients of the Silver Snoopy? Omega, the famed maker of the official Speedmaster Moonwatch. Decades later, in 2002, the brand would produce the first-ever Snoopy Speedmaster, this one dubbed the ‘Silver Snoopy’ and featuring the spacefaring doggo on the left subdial.

From there, the world’s most famous beagle has been a constant presence on watch faces, from Speedies to Seikos and even a Franck Muller x Bamford collab. And that’s to say nothing of the Snoopy MoonSwatches, which have been among the most popular pieces in that collection since their launch. Snoopy, it seems, is the great pop cultural equalizer of the watch industry—luxury brands and mass-market juggernauts alike are eager to feature the character on their wares. Which brings us back to Timex, the American watch company famous for affordable quartz timepieces often available for less than a hundred bucks.
In putting Snoopy on a collection of new watches this week, the brand gestures towards healing and cooperation between the tennis and pickleball communities. Snoopy, after all, has been depicted playing tennis on a handful of prior Timex releases, including a beautiful 34mm Marlin Hand-Wound and a denim-dialed model from the 1950s. Intentional or not, the collection chips away at tribalism between the two sports and makes the argument that if Snoopy can play both sports, there’s no reason we all can’t do the same. Or, at the very least, emulate his brand of zen. In the words of Snoopy himself, “Learn from yesterday, live for today, look to tomorrow, rest this afternoon.”
